Como todas las semanas cuando tengo cursos que impartir en la universidad seleccionado algunas fuentes en la web para buscar material relevante a los temas que me toca cubrir en mis cursos. Pero, esta semana decidí comenzar seleccionando algunas lecturas recientes en el portal de GOOD y me tope con un video muy entretenido que nos da un vistazo no solo a la situación de la educación en América como lee el título, sino que lo hace de manera comparativa con otras naciones alrededor del mundo.
Mi preocupación real es que la deserción escolar y las bajas universitarias se están dando a nivel mundial. ¿A dónde están dirigiéndose estos jóvenes?
EDUCATION IN AMERICA
"It's time that we take a hard look at the state of education in America. How many of our kids graduate from high school? How well do they perform on standardized tests? How much do we pay our teachers? In taking the pulse of our country's education system—all the way from kindergarten to college—and comparing it to how other countries perform, we see not only where we rank internationally, but crucial ways to repair our system here at home. Because if a nation is only as great as it's lowest performing kids, we've still got a ways to go".
